5-Day INSPIRE Camp Concludes at DAV College

Amritsar, Dec. 8 (Punjab Post Bureau)-The five day science camp INSPIRE sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India concludes today at DAV College, Amritsar. This five day event witnessed a series of academic lectures by prominent scientists and scholars of country like Professor .Dr K.Kannan, Dr A.S Ahluwalia, Dr G.S Sodhi , S.Prem Singh ,Dr Chanchal Kumar, Prof Dr Narpinder Singh, Dr Arvind Kumar, Dr S.K Dogra, Dr M.S Chauhan , Dr Anish Dua etc. Almost 250 students from 27 schools of various district and adjoining areas like Tarantaran, Pathankot, Gurdaspur participated in the camp. There were a total of 12 scientific and technical sessions and 10 practical sessions in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Biotechnology. The lectures based on various topics like Astro-Physics, Chemistry in daily life, Advances in Biotechnology, Stem Cell Cloning, Gene Genome Cancer and many more were delivered by Scholars.  Managing Committee, New Delhi as chief guest, Vice Principal Dr Vishwa Bandhu, Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Programme Coordinator INSPIRE, Prof J.J Mohindroo Assistant Coordinator INSPIRE and various heads of the Department of science faculties. In Valedictory address J.K Luthra spoke about the large scale benefits of this science camp and also motivated students to pursue their career in sciences and engage themselves in all scientific activities, research etc. Before the valedictory function, Dr M.S Chauhan, Principal Scientist, Animal Biotechnology Centre, NDRI, Karnal, Haryana gave a Lecture on “How we can enhance the productivity of our farm animals?”. It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. MS Chauhan is pioneer in producing world’s first stem celled buffalo calf.  Speaking on the occasion Dr. Chauhan talked about the development of the reproductive technologies in humans and animals for the treatment of infertility and its results over the period of past twenty years. He also talked about in vitro production of embryos using in vitro technology. During the Second Lecture, Dr Anish Dua Head Department of Zoology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar delivered a lecture on A Journey So Far and the Road Ahead. With his Intellectual words he helped students to get complete knowledge about the topic.  Speaking on the occasion, Vice Principal Dr. Vishwa Bandhu motivated students to participate in such activities which would inculcate Scientific Temper among Youngsters. Besides, he appreciated the work done by the organizing committee of INSPIRE camp and thanked Faculty Members and students of various schools who made INSPIRE camp a great success .Dr J.J Mohindroo, Assistant coordinator INSPIRE read out the five day report of the science camp in which he threw light on various features of camp. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator INPIRE thanked all the participants and experts/guests who shared their valuable studies and experiences with the students. Besides, she also thanked Department of Science and Technology, GOI for sponsoring this camp. The camp witnessed the presence of all HoD’s and faculty of Sciences and social sciences.
