Commission sorted out over 4600 cases and complaints till December

Ramdas (Amritsar), Dec. 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Punjab State Commission for Women chairperson Paramjit Kaur Landran on monday said that they are going to launch a ‘follow up’ program across the border belts to review the status of cases settled during the Public Program organized for Border Area Women in the past.
Chairperson of Punjab State Women Commission Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landran accompanied by Vice- Chairperson Satbir Kaur Manhera, Member Bibi Simarjit Kaur Sidhu and Secretary Human Rights Mission Brig. Gurinderjit Singh (Retd) while listening to the grievances and issues pertaining to women of border areas at Ramdas in Ajnala constituency said that Commission will launch this program within a month. She said that under follow up progam they will procure action taken reports on the cases discussed in previous program. He said that this report will be procured from concerned authorities of other districts especially in border area. She said that till date more than 4600 cases and complaints of women had been sorted out by commission. She said that women commission would be launching a state wide awareness campaign by organizing awareness seminars in collaboration with educational institutions and other social organizations.
When asked about the type of cases received by the commission, Bibi Landran said that the majority of cases were pertaining to domestic violence. She said that out of 4600 cases settled maximum were of domestic violence. She said that the sole motive of awareness campaign being launched by them to educate and make aware girls/women about their rights.
Giving details of Ramdas program, Bibi Landran said that out of total 400 cases, nearly 200 cases relating to old age, widow pensions were settled on the spot while the remaining has been forwarded to authorities concerned for further and necessary action. She said that officers/officials of various departments including Rural Development and Panchayats, Social Security, Welfare etc.
Bibi Landran said that Commission will organize public program in Khemkarn of Tarn Taran district on 29 December 2015 i.e. Tuesday.
Prominent amongst others spoke on the occasion included Senior Vice Chairman of Ramdas Nagar Council Mr. Surinder Pal Kalia, Councillor Mr. Inderjit Singh Rana and officers of various departments.
