Amritsar, Mar. 10 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Army’s Ghost Regiment, the 63rd Cavalry is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year in March 2016. The Regiment was raised on 2nd January 1957 in the princely state of Alwar in Rajasthan. It was the third Cavalry Regiment to be raised after independence. The complete equipment held by the Regiment since inception in 1957 to include Stuart MK-VI, Humber Armoured Car, Daimler Armoured Car, M113 Bradley, PT-76, Ferret Armoured Car, T-55, Vijayanta, BMP-II and Tank T-72 will be seen roaring in the Heritage Parade to bring back the Golden Memories of last six decades. A host of events would be organised to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of this prolific Regiment. The highlight of the event would be the “Heritage Review Parade” where the present generation of cavaliers would pay tributes to the Veterans and their equipment of yore. The parade would be reviewed by Lt Gen KJ Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command from a contingent led by the present Commandant, Colonel Sanjeev Kumar. Several other Senior Army dignitaries to include Lt Gen JS Cheema, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps, Maj Gen Deepak Dhanda, Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps, Maj Gen Sanjay Thapa, General Officer Commanding, Panther Division and several retired veterans, civil dignitaries, Veer Naris and Widows will grace the celebrations. A Special Sainik Sammelan, Veteran Officers Conference, Barakhana, Audio – Visual Show and the Tresath Diamond Jubilee Ball are the other events on the agenda.
