International Yoga Day celebrated at Guru Nanak Dev University

PPN2006201615Amritsar, 21 June (Punjab Post Bureau)- A special Yoga camp was organized at the sports ground of the Guru Nanak Dev University to mark the International Yoga Day under the chairmanship of Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar. Yoga instructor, Acharya Raj Kumar and his students instructed about various aasna and pranayaam. As many as 250 officers, employees and students of the University participated. Prof. Dhillon on this occasion said that yoga is part of our rich traditional heritage. He said that yoga could instill new energy, enthusiasm and positive thinking among us. He said that youth must adopt yoga for holistic development of their personalities.

            This camp was organized by the Sports Department of the University. Dr. H.S. Randhawa, Deputy Director Sports said that students must take part in yoga alongwith their formal studies.

Meanwhile, Guru Nanak Dev University College Verka observed as International Yoga Day. NSS volunteers of the college organized the function with tremendous zeal. They performed various Yogic Asanas. One of the students highlighted the significance of Yoga and how it helps us physically, mentally as well as spiritually. Dr.Harish Chander Sharma, the College Principal encouraged the students for their participation .He emphasized on the importance of Yoga and how it must be incorporated in our routine schedule. NSS coordinatnor Dr. Rupinderpreet Kaur thanked the students for making the event commendable.
