
Amritsar, Sept. 12, 2016 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In Consonance with the burgeoning need for newer and newer scientific and technological innovations, Guru Nanak Dev University College Verka organized science Festival at College Premises.
Prof. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council of the University inaugurated the science extra vaganza. The Festival opened up with Quiz competition in which 8 teams from different colleges participated. Four teams qualified for final round after rigorous test of their scientific knowledge. GNDU College Verka bagged the first position in Quiz followed by BBK DAV College placed at second and S.R. Govt. College at third.
The Science Model Exhibition was also organized which not only showcased the marvels of science but also the dexterity of Verka students who amazed the visitors with their unique models. The day also saw the active participation of teams in Poster Making and Declamation contest. BBk DAV College emerged winner in Poster Making while DAV College got second position followed by SR Govt. College at third.
Declamation Contest saw intense competition among participants with S.R. Govt .College bagging the First Position followed by BBK DAV College and third position was shared by GNDU Chung & Khalsa College for Women. Lot of enthusiasm was witnessed all throughout the day as the festival progressed. Mr Jaswinder Singh , Shiksha Ratan, State and National Awardee , the famous science Luminary gave the students an exposure to experiments with his live show . The Festival provided great opportunity to not only students from Verka College but also from various colleges of far and wide to unravel their scientific know-how.
Dr. R.K. Mahajan gave an inspirational speech to students and motivated them to excel and probe for newer and newer opportunities and careers in science. Principal, Dr. Dharmjit Singh offered floral welcome to the dignitaries and exhorted the students and science faculty to work more hard and achieve new heights. Overall the event was a big leap to unravel the hidden facets of the science faculty and the students.
