
Amritsar Nov. 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Punjab Governor and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnor today flagged off a Para Cycling Expedition from Wagha Border in district Amritsar. As many as 34 cyclists are participating in expedition which would cover about 500 km in nine days before reaching at BSF Camp New Delhi on Dec 1, 2016. Union Home Minister Mr. Raj Nath Singh would receive the expedition in Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor appreciated the Border Security Force for having given the opportunity to the Divyang Youdhas (Physically challenged) to live a dignified life. It may be mentioned here that a few of the cyclists participating in the expedition are physically challenged. The Governor also said that during these 9 days, the whole Nation would be witnessing courage and dedication of the Divyangs and it would be a moment of pride for them to show to everyone that they were no lesser to any one, said the Governor.
Launching a training programme for the youth of border areas under Civic Action Plan, the Governor announced that the Punjab Government has released an amount of Rs. 48 lac to the BSF to impart skilled training to about 480 youths of the border area villages in 4 batches at 4 different locations under this plan. The Governor asked the BSF Officers present there to identify eligible girls of the Border villages for the next training scheduled so that the girls could also get specialized training in different fields and thereafter get adjusted to different jobs.
Adding further the Governor said that the Skill Generation Mission launched by the Government of India was aimed at creating more job opportunities, space and scope for the development of the talent in the Indian Youth. He said that by 2020 about 500 million youth of our country would be imparted training covering each and every village of the country.
