DAV College Observes World AIDS Day

 Amritsar, December 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In order to observe World Aids Day, the department of Zoology, DAV College organized a one day Awareness talk on the preventative measures of non curable disease Aids here at Arsh Auditorium. The theme of World AIDS Day 2016 was “Hands up for HIV Prevention”. Teaching and non teaching staff members of the college took part in this informative Talk.

Dr. Ashwani Verma, Medical Officer of the College was the resource person, who spoke about the preventive measures of AIDS and also discussed about Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV. He also gave power point presentation to explain the various aspects of Acquired immune deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). He also stressed upon HIV testing before marriage and also advised to avoid any kind of drugs or medicines through used injections.

            Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College appreciated the efforts of Dr. Rajni Khanna, Head  Department of Zoology for organizing such informative seminar. While speaking on the occasion, He said that the people should take proper care of preventive measures to cure this disease. He also explained about implications of AIDS and told that people affected with this disease always have to face stigma and discrimination from people in society and we should always try to support people suffering from this disease. He also added that the government organizations, Various NGO, Civil societies and other health officials are taking various steps to increase awareness regarding this Non-Curable disease AIDS. Dr. Daisy Sharma, Prof Neehita, Prof Neeru Gupta, Dr. Vikas Gupta and Heads of the various departments were also present during the occasion.
