Chandigarh, December 16 (Punjab Post Bureau)- To facilitate the people of Punjab especially the rural folk in deriving maximum benefits out of various national level schemes and programmes of the Central government, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has launched a massive awareness drive. To start with, 12 districts of the state have been selected for the drive. It has been launched through the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP) of the ministry which has hired a professional agency for organizing awareness campaigns. The agency is educating the rural folk by conducting day-long programmes in various villages of these districts. The districts include Amritsar, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Barnala, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Patiala, Ropar and Fazilka.
During the programmes, which are named as ‘Khushali Divas’ theme based skits and ‘Nukkad-Nataks’ are being staged and videos related to various schemes are being shown for the awareness of the public. People are also being guided to how to avail the benefits of these nationalized programmes including Jan Dhan Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Surakshma Beema Yojna (PMSBMY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojna (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna, Mudra, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao etc. Till now over 25.82 crore Jan Dhan accounts, 9.78 crore PMSBMY policies and 3.07 crore Jeevan Jyoti Beema policies have been done across the country so far. A large number of people have also enrolled themselves under Atal Pension Yojna.
Principal Director General of the Directorate of Field Publicity, Mrs Neelam Kapoor had also visited two villages in Amritsar district recently and reviewed the awareness drive. She interacted with the Sarpanches, Panches and people of village Sangna and Sohiyan Kalan and discussed various schemes and benefits villagers are being taking. According to the Director (North-West) Region of DFP, Mr Ashish Goyal, hand bills about these schemes and also about Demonetization are being distributed amongst the masses. A special make-shift kiosk has also been setup where people can record their grievances which are further being sent to the concerned government agencies for the early redressal. The awareness drive is being launched in close coordination with the district administration of these 12 districts.
