Amritsar, February 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Guru RamDas School of Planning of Guru Nanak Dev University organized a UGC sponsored National Seminar on the theme ‘Under Graduation in Urban and Regional Planning: Retrospects and Prospects’. On this occasion, the chief guest was Dr.D.S. Meshram Retd., Chief Town Planner, TCPO, New Delhi. He traced the journey of B.Tech (Urban and Regional Planning) in India and in Amritsar and suggested improvisions. Dr. T.S. Banipal, Director Research (GNDU) congratulated the department for holding the seminar and alumni meet. On the occasion, Ms. Kiran Sandhu Head of Department, Coordinator Mr. Gopal Johariand Dr. Ashwani Luthra were also present. The technical session marked intensive deliberations through delivery of expert lectures by eminent speakers like Prof. Manjit Singh (Retd), Prof. Sarup Singh (Retd.), Dr. R.S. Sandhu (Prof. Emeritus, Retd.), Mr. Jit Kumar Gupta (Advisor of Town Planning and PUDA), Mr. Pankaj Bawa (Senior Town Planner, GMADA) and Mr. Rajneesh Sareen (Program Director, Center of Science and Environment). They spoke about initiatives regarding upgrading the course and producing skilled planning professionals. This was followed by interactive alumni session wherein the department alumni and delegates reflected on the 25 years of B.Tech (Urban & Regional Planning) and the first batch alumni were honored. The silver jubilee was also marked by a display of cultural event by the students and faculty of GRD School of planning and VI Alumni meet was also celebrated.
