Celebrations Mark DAV Public School

Amritsar, April 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – It was a day of celebrations at DAV Public School Lawrence Road as the students celebrated Baisakhi, Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Pakhand Khandini Pataka Divas with great zeal.  The students were in a festive mood  and began the celebration by praying to Almighty for prosperity throughout the  year. The jubilation and enthusiasm of Baisakhi  was apparent as the students decked up in colourful clothes performed bhangra at the beat of the dhol and sang folk songs.

The students also paid tribute to Dr. B.R Amdedkar whose birth anniversary falls on April 14. The students read out excerpts from his inspirational life. Dr. Ambedkar was one of the architects of the Indian constitution. The students talked about his remarkable efforts to eradicate social evils like untouchability and cast restrictions.

On this day in 1867 Swami Dayanand Saraswati launched his Ved Prachar Mission at Haridwar Kumbh by hoisting the unprecedented Pakhand Khandini Pataka. He wanted to wean away simple masses from the thugs masquerading as dharm guru and panda purohits. Students spoke about the ideology of Swami ji that he wanted to give spiritual guidance to the people.  On the same day in 1699, the tenth guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded Khalsa Panth.

Regional Director Punjab Zone A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar sent their best wishes to the teachers and the students on this occasion. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school blessed the students and the staff. She asked the students to lead an ethical life imbibing the values of honesty, brotherhood, and sacrifice and love for the country.
