Amritsar, May 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A “Short Term Course on Research Methodology” was inaugurated at the
UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 70 University and College teachers pertaining to a wide spectrum of disciplines representing a diversity of cultural, geographical, linguistic backgrounds are participating.
Prof. Narpinder Singh, Director Research of the University presided over the inaugural session. Prof. Narpinder Singh in his inaugural address highlighted the achievements of the University since its inception in 1969. Our University has already carved a niche for itself in the realms of higher education in the country over a short span of time, he further said. Since its inception, our University has been carrying out quality research in all the disciplines in consonance with one of the major aims of establishing it, he continued. Emphasizing on the quality of research, he exhorted the participants, to acquaint themselves with the latest advancements in the field of research methodology, irrespective of their disciplines. Concluding his inaugural address, he said that academic research is going to be a one of the major criteria for promotions in times to come.
Prof. B.S. Mann, University Business School and the Coordinator for the Short Term Course briefed the participants about the theme of this Course and counselled them to make an optimum use of this opportunity. Prof. Kamaljit Singh, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, in his welcome address introduced the Chief Guest formally to the audience and urged them to interact with the Resource Persons without any inhibition in order to enhance their existing knowledge. The domain of Research Methodology has undergone a sea-change over the times and it becomes imperative for the teachers to update their expertise periodically. Earlier Prof. Narpinder Singh was accorded a floral welcome by Prof. Kamaljit Singh and Prof. B.S. Mann and Dr. Mohan Kumar, Deputy Director proposed the vote of thanks.
