Amritsar, July 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A pilot program under project EcoShe –“The Reusable Pad Affect” by
S.H.E. society was held at Sri Hemkunt Public School in two groups comprising of 30-35 females each. The first target group was female students aged 12-19 years where as the second target group was females between ages 25-40. Approx. 60 – 65 females trained under 2 hours EcoShe menstrual Health Education Program.
The attendees were given a product demo of reusable cloth pads and Saafkins as well as awareness on the harmful implications of the sanitary pad on the environment and female health too. 100 promotional packs containing one cloth pad and one Saafkin (both reusable pad option) were distributed on a subsidized rate. The organization head Mrs. Jeevan Jyot disclosed that EcoShe – “The Reusable Pad Affect” is getting an overwhelming response and that their mission is to trigger a major shift in MHM resulting in a more clean and healthy environment. “We want maximum females” to open up and discuss on this “So called taboo” of menstruation. She also disclosed that the girls were loving the product as they found it very girlie. EcoShe- “The reusable pad affect” menstrual health program is booked for the coming week in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Lot of girls have shown keen interest in volunteering the project.
