Mahatma Anand Swami MA Block inaugurated at DAV College

Amritsar, July 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A newly renovated PG block was inaugurated at DAV College by Gurjeet Singh Aujla Member Parliament. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar with office bearers Dr. BB Yadav, Dr. Rajni Khanna, Prof Aashima Walia, Prof Amita Sharma and Building Incharge Dr. Kamal Kishore and other faculty members extended a floral welcome to chief guest Sardar Gurjeet Singh Aujla on his maiden visit to the college after taking over as Member of Parliament of Amritsar. The newly renovated block is named after Mahatma Anand Swami and would be extensively used for postgraduate classes especially M.A (Economics, Hindi, Punjabi).

MP Gurjit Singh Aujla while addressing the gathering of intellectuals said that it is very important to raise the standards of the education in colleges and universities so that our students are able to compete at world level especially when they are moving abroad. Talking about the development work in Amritsar, he said that efforts are being taken to make Amritsar an international hub and also bring in various employment opportunities for unemployed. On this occasion, he also announced a grant of Rs.5 Lacs to the college for the development work.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar extended a warm welcome to the guest and also highlighted some of his achievements as MP. He also thanked MLA West O.P Soni for his continuous efforts for college development projects taken over these years. On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony, all the staff members of the college were present to welcome the chief guest. Besides, students of NCC Naval Wing escorted the chief guest.
