Homage paid to Kargil Martyrs

Jalandhar, July 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – On the occasion of the 18^th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Lt Gen BS Sahrawat, GOC, Vajra Corps laid a wreath and paid homage to Kargil martyrs at Vajra Shaurya Sthal, Jalandhar Cantonment which was attended by serving personnel and veterans. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated in honour of Kargil War heroes for the success in Operation Vijay. On this day on 26 July 1999, Indian Army successfully captured the high outposts of icy mountains of Kargil which had been illegally occupied by the Pakistani intruders. 527 soldiers from Indian Armed Force laid down their lives during Kargil War.
