Amritsar, August 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A two-day training programme on Green Sense: Framework for Sustainable
Development is being organized by Faculty of Physical Planning and Architecture of Guru Nanank Dev University in collaboration with Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), Delhi. The training programme is an outcome of MoU signed between Centre for Science and Environment & Faculty of Physical Planning and Architecture of the University. As many as 120 teachers, reserachers and students participated.
The training programme is organized with the objective to expose and train the faculty and the students of Planning and Architecture department of the university. Technical experts from CSE are delivering lectures on spatial aspects and guidelines of the government to build quality environments.
Prof. S.S Behl, Dean Student’s Welfare was the Chief guest for the training programme. In his inaugural address he stressed on Green sensitivity, planning the areas and building keeping in view five basic elements i.e. sunlight, air, water, earth and sky. He stressed that human being are capable of creating and destroying the environment and this training session shall sensitize and train the participants about sustainability challenges, energy efficient buildings.
Dr. Karamjit Singh Chahal, Dean Faculty welcomed all participants and talked about planning and designing with due consideration on sustainability. Prof. Aswani Luthra, Ms. Kiran Sandhu, Head of the Department, Guru Ramdass School of Planning; Ms. Meenakshi, Head of Deptt. of Architecture were also present in the inaugural session of training programme.
