BBK DAV College for Women lifts Sr. State Gatka Championship

Amritsar, Sept. 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Gatka team of BBK DAV College for Women, won Sr. State Gatka Championship held at Mashiwara, Ludhiana. College team put up a splendid show by defeating Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib teams. Seven players Ms. Puneet Kaur, Parneet Kaur, Kiranjit Kaur, Simrandeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Manpreet Kaur won silver medals in Single Stick Event, whereas four players Ms. Rajbeer Kaur, Neha Rani, Pawanpreet Kaur and Paramjeet Kaur won bronze medals in Fari Soti Event.

Congratulating the players on their remarkable performance, Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Mahajan, Dean Colleges Development Council, Amritsar, Dr. Shivaji, Head, CTVS Dept., Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar and Sh. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, motivated them to perform well in future championships.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia appreciated the hard work of the players. She added that BBK DAV College for Women has always provided its players with the state-of-art infrastructure and other necessary facilities; that is why, the college players have always made a mark in various national and international events. Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education, along with the other faculty members, felicitated the players on their achievements.
