Youth Festival of Govt/Constituent Colleges & Associate Institutes inaugurated at GNDU

Amritsar, Sept. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Zonal Youth Festival of Government Colleges, Constituent Colleges & Associate Institutes was inaugurated here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev University. The festival was started with the beat of of Bhangra. Around 600 Students-artists from 23 teams are participating in 32 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be conclude on September 28.

               These competitions are being organized simultaneously on four different stages in the University Campus i.e. Dasmesh Auditrioum, Guru Nanak Bhawan, Sangat Hall and Conference Hall. The Students of various Government Colleges, Constituent Colleges & Associate Institutes and departments of the University were present on this occasion.

            Sh. Vijay Sharma, eminent theatre personality formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the lamp. He said that victory and defeat are two aspects of any competition. One should participate with full confidence without bothering about these aspects. He said that youth festivals enhance the confidence of students. He exhorted students to participate in these festivals alongwith their formal studies.  Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of Youth Welfare Department.

            Today, the festival was started with the competition of bhangra. The items of group Shabad/Bhajan, Group Song (Indian), Classical Instrumental Percussion, Classical Vocal, Vaar Singing, Kavishri, Painting, Cartooning, Poster Making, Photography, Collage, Clay Modeling, Installation were organized on different stages.

Dr. Jagjit Kaur said that on September 26, items of Costume Exhibition, Mime, Mimicry, Skit, Geet/Gazal, Folk Song, Rangoli, Phulkari, Poetical Symposium and Allocution would be organized while on September 27, One Act Play, General Dance, Western Vocal Solo, Western Group Song, Quiz and Debate would be held. On the final day i.e. September 28, the items of Classical Dance and Gidha would be organized followed by prize distribution function.
