Symposium on ‘Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji and his legacy’ at GNDU

Amritsar, Dec. 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A Symposium on Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji and his legacy was  organised by Guru Nanak Dev University here today in Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan Auditorium of the University.This symposium was  organised in collaboration with the Govt. of Punjab to celebrate the conclusion celeberation of  350^th birth annivosory  of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji.

1. Navjyot Singh Sidhu, Cabinet Minister for Local Bodies, Govt.of  Punjab was the Chief Guest. Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the symposium. Prof. Prithipal Singh Kapoor, former pro-vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Prof. Gurinder Singh Mann, Santa Barbra of California, USA, Visiting Professor Gurbir Singh Brar (USA) presented their research papers on Guru Gobind Singh ji. Professor Kamaljit Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs of the University welcome the guests and Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University presented vote of thanks. Prof. Amarjit Singh, Director, Centre on Studies in Sri Guru Granth Sahib introduced the chief guest and other guests

        Prof. Sandhu said that the contribution of Sri Guru Gobind singh ji is biggest contribution not only for sikh community but for whole Humanity, he said that Guru Nank Dev University is stating the project on the concept of Guru Chela shortly. He said that Guru Gobind Singh Chair will be established at University Campus very shortly.

1. Navjyot Singh Sidhu said that Guru Gobind Singh has sacrificed everything for the sake of humanity. He said that the main objective of this symposium organised on the direction of honourable Chief Minister Caption Amrinder Singh was to revive and preach the contribution of tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh. He said that we sould proud of our religion and its sacrifies. He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji is an institution and his teachings are in our blood which provides direction for moral life. Guru ji teach us how to live in dignity and proud.  Guru ji give the message of Oneness irrespection of caste, creed and religion.

    A large number of  teachers, officials and students of university other institutions of the city besides other prominent personalities of the city including former Jathedar Akal Takhat Joginder Singh Vedanti and Deputy Commissioner Kamaljit Singh Sangh were present.

        Prof. Prithipal Singh Kapoor spoke on Guru Gobind Singh and his legacy. He said that the legacy of Guru Nanak is forwarded by tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji has same spirit and present the concept of Sikhism. The biggest incident of Sri Guru Gobind Singh is the creation of Khalsa with the objective to fight evils. Guru ji eradicated all discriminations and brings equlity in all human beings.

        Prof. Gurinder Singh Mann in his paper on 10^th Master at Anandpur Sahib (1686-1704) presented through slides the era during Guru Gobind Singh Ji. he said that the layout span of his life was spent at Chak Nanki and Anandpur Sahib .

         Visiting Professor Gurbir Singh Brar spoke on unrevealing the world of Guru Gobind Singh.Prof. Brar also organized on Exhibition of Relics connected with Guru Gobind Singh Vice-Chancellor also honoured Guests with memento on behalf of University
