Amritsar, Jan. 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road observed Martyrs’
Day to mark the death anniversary of the father of nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, with reverence. The death anniversary of Gandhi Ji falls on 30th January. On this black day in the history of India, he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. The students remembered Gandhi Ji and his ideals of non–violence and brotherhood which laid the foundation of independent India. They informed the audience about his contribution and positive role in leading the country towards independence and read out some important events from his life which paved way towards independence. In the end the students pledged to walk on the ideals of Gandhi Ji and imbibe values of sacrifice and toleration. At 11 am, the whole school observed silence for two minutes as a remembrance to the martyred soul who was a symbol of virtues and sacrifice.
Regional Director , Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College Amritsar in their message to the students said that Gandhi Ji should be remembered for his ideologies and honesty. They advised that all students must try to imbibe these in their life to lead a meaningful and virtuous life that is free from materialism.
Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school while paying rich tribute to the father of the nation said that Gandhi ji’s guiding principles need to be remembered by all. He preached on non–violent protests, tolerance and peaceful co–existence which is the of the hour.
