Old Students Recall Memories at Alma-mater
Amritsar, Mar. 5 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The nostalgia was in the air at the Third Khalsa College Global Alumni Meet today as the old students recalled their `memories’ of their alma mater during their student years. They, jostling, exchanging hugs and handshakes intermingled and to remember the times spent on the campus after the gap of number of years. The meet which was dedicated to the 126th foundation anniversary of the College established in 1892, had the alumni and settled across the world, thronging the campus. They started pouring in from morning and were welcomed at the College by the Management, Principal and staff. The alumni witnessed a cultural program during which the students enthralled the audience with the folk songs, traditional orchestra and Jhoomer dance. Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President, Satyajit Singh Majithia proudly acclaimed that alumni of the College is spread world over and they have achieved heights following getting formal degrees from this institution in various disciplines. Majithia, accompanied by KCGC Honorary Secretary, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Principal, Dr. Mehal Singh, honoured senior most alumni including Dr. Khem Singh Gill, former VC, PAU, Ludhiana, IPS Officer Dr. Manmohan Sinhg, Kuldeep Singh Sandhu, a Germany based oil exploration Engineer, Theatre exponent Jatinder Singh Barar, Inspector General of Police Mukhwinder Singh Chhina and World famous Wrestler Kartar Singh with citations for their immense achievements in heir respective fields.
The Management appreciated the efforts of Principal, Dr. Mehal Singh and the entire staff for organizing the function meticulously. A special documentary depicting the history of the Khalsa College Charitable Society its growth and progress was also presented. RMS Chhina, in his welcome speech earlier said that the College is proud to have rich alumni as thousands of students have achieved big in life after getting formal education here. He said retired police, defence officers, doctors, engineers, teachers, businessmen and officials retired and serving have attended the event today
The Alumni in their addresses hailed Khalsa College as an institution of higher learning and centre of excellence. They also vowed that they would do every bit to help the institution of higher learning achieve more academic and heritage excellence in the coming. Dr. Mehal Singh said that the objective of the Meet was to provide an opportunity to alumnus to share their sweet memories relating to their experiences witnessed at College. Khalsa College Global Alumni Chief Dr. Davinder Singh narrated the achievements of the erstwhile College students in every sphere of life. He named Sukh Dhaliwal, Canadian MP, Prabh Gill, Alberta MLA and Bhupinder Singh Holland for their immense contributions.
