Vijay Sampla Awarded 804 Degrees to Graduates & Post-Graduates
Amritsar, April 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The 60th Annual Convocation function of DAV College was held today in
which degrees were awarded to approx. 804 students of 21 streams including both graduate and post-graduate classes. Vijay Sampla, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was the Chief Guest and Mr Tarun Chugh, National Secretary was the Guest of Honour during the event. Besides, Advocate Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman LMC, Dr Lakhanpal, Member LMC and S.K Sehgal President Alumni Association also graced the occasion.
After lighting the Deepshikha and enchanting of DAV Gaan, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar & Prof Sunil Sachdeva, College Registrar welcomed chief guest during the event. In his welcome address, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar highlighted the achievements of Vijay Sampla and his contribution towards society. He said that Vijay Sampla ji is epitome of hard work and continuous struggle in his life.
Expressing his deep gratitude towards these guests, Principal Dr Rajesh said that it is an honor for the college that these eminent personalities have accepted our invitation and are here to address the students and to enlighten them with their words of wisdom. Principal Dr Rajesh also congratulated the various degree holders for their success and also shared few words of advice with them. While addressing students, he stressed upon the fact that hard work and persistent efforts are necessary to reap fruits of success, besides, highlighting the achievements of the college in academic and placement fronts.
While addressing the students, Vijay Sampla emphasized on the need of moral values and its importance in society. He explained that how these moral values help in strengthening human relations. He also motivated students to work harder in life in order to achieve goals. He quoted some examples from his own life as despite belonging to an ordinary family, he has earned an enviable position in society. He said that the teachers have a big role to play in the life of a student and that they should not only teach in the classes but also encourage the students and boost their morals high. He also inspired students to work hard and remain dedicated to their work. He congratulated the degree holders for their success but emphasized on the need to set goal and grow smarter as success has no limits.
The students who were awarded degrees included 603 graduates and 201 Post Graduate students from streams like MSc (Physics, Maths, and Computer Science), MA (English, Economics, History, Hindi) and M.Com students. Among the graduates, degrees were awarded to students of BSc. (Medical, Non-Medical, Economics, IT, Computer Science, Biotechnology), BBA, BCom, BCA, BJMC, & BA regular and evenings classes.
Dr. Vishav Bandhu, Vice Principal, Prof. Sunil Sachdeva, Registrar of the college, Dr.Rajni Khanna, Administrator, Dr B.B. Yadav, Staff Secretary and Heads of various departments expressed their deep sense of gratitude to all dignitaries, guests and students. The principals from various other institutes, teaching and non-teaching faculty members of the college also attended the function.
