Military Weapon, Equipment and Band Display organized at Rahon

  Jalandhar,  May 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – To showcase wide ranging capabilities of the Indian Army, a Weapon, Equipment and Band Display was organized at Rahon, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. The event was inaugurated by Major General JS Sandhu, General Officer Commanding, Golden Arrow Division. A wide range of small arms, communication setup and other equipment used by the Army were displayed to kindle the patriotic fervor and pride amongst the youth and to motivate them for serving the Nation. ‘Empowerment through Awareness’ was achieved wherein a large number of school and college students, government dignitaries and local population from adjoining villages enthusiastically attended the event. The students were excited as they got a first – hand experience of weapons while many students got a chance to lay their hands on military equipment.

The army offers a challenging career to the youth and there are plenty of options available in the forces. A counseling counter with detailed information regarding various entry schemes to join the Indian Army was also setup to provide guidance to the students during the display.

            Besides the display, a military band played traditional martial tunes and enthralled the crowd with its majestic display. The event drew overwhelming response from people.
