
Amritsar, Aug. 14 (Manjit Kaur)- To mark the patriotic fervour of 68th year of India’s Independence, a colorful programme was presented by the students of Pre-Primary & Primary section of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School G.T. Road, Amritsar. The stage was bedecked with buntings and flags. The function was presided over by Director / Principal, Dr. Dharam Veer Singh. He was accorded a floral welcome by Supervisors, Mrs. Manju Sapra, Mrs. Kiranjit Kaur and Mrs. Amritpal Kaur. The band team of the school gave an excellent show in march past. All the spectators were quite enthusiastic and exuberant. The programme commenced with school shabhad followed by welcome dance performed by students of second standard. The zest and enthusiasm of children enthralled everyone by singing melodious patriotic songs. The heart rending dance ‘Chak De India’ brimmed the souls with national spirit and devotedness which was well punctuated with folk song sung by Gurleen Kaur, a contestant in Voice of Punjab. Partishta of class I and Harmanpreet Kaur of VI std. threw light on the importance of Independence Day of India by giving inspirational speeches. On the auspicious eve of Independence day, all the students of Pre-Primary & Primary section participated enthusiastically in different class room activities by making collage on great inventors of India, festivals and traditional foods of India. Dr. Dharam Veer Singh in his speech emphasiszed the need to inculcate the nationalism among the young generation. On this occasion S. Harinder Singh, Principal, Amritsar Engg College, Amritsar and S. Maninder Singh, Head of MBA Department were presented momentos by the school Principal. The gold medal winners in open state fencing and silver medal winner in little champs were also honoured by the school authorities. S. Harinder Singh and S. Navpreet Singh (Member Incharges) appreciated the efforts of teachers and students to make the celebrations a success and urged to be devoted their motherland.
