BBK DAV College lifts Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Overall Sports Championship Trophy

Amritsar, Sept. 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Department of Physical Education of BBK DAV College put up a splendid show by lifting Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Overall General (Men and Women Combined) Sports Championship Trophy 2015-16, along with a cash prize of Rs.32000/-. The college also won Overall General Sports Championship Trophy 2016-17 in ‘A’ division (Women) with a large margin by securing 28,582 points. 80 players of the college were awarded prize money of Rs. 2000000 in different games by Honourable Arjuna Awardee Dr. Rupa Saini on the 47^th Annual Sports Prize Distribution Function at Dashmesh Auditorium GNDU Campus organized by the Sports Department of Guru Nanak Dev University. Two cyclists of the college Ms. Kezia Vargheese and Ms. Komal Ajay Deshmukh and one Archery player Priyanshu Kachhup got a cash prize of Rs. 426000, 87000 and 100000 respectively.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia was honoured for being the biggest contributor in winning MAKA Runner-up Trophy. Mrs. Sweety Bala was honoured as the Best Head of Department of Physical Education and also awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 8000 for being a lady manager in Road Cycling Champion team in All India Intervarsity Championship.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that winning this trophy for 6^th time consecutively is a huge achievement for BBK DAV College for Women. She encouraged the achievers to maintain their performance in future also. She added that college always provides its players with best of the facilities for their holistic growth.

Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head Department of Physical Education, along with other faculty members felicitated the players on their achievements.
