EESL’s UJALA appliances now available at Head Post Office Amritsar

Amritsar, Sept. 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Makhan Singh, Sr. Superintendent of Post Offices Amritsar Division has launched the UJALA scheme at Amritsar Head Post office on 18.09.2018 along with Nitin Bhatt RM EESL. As the Department of Posts has entered in an agreement with EESL”s UJALA for the distribution of its energy efficient appliances through post offices of Punjab and Chandigarh for convenience of the consumers. UJALA appliances will be available for the consumer at Amritsar Head Post office with effect from 18.09.2018.  Very soon the UJALA appliances will be made available at the Golden Temple Post office, Gandhi Bazar Post office, Tarn Taran Post office, Patti Post office, Chheharata Post office, Majith Mandi Post office, Vijay Nagar Post office,Guru Bazar Post office, Hindu Sabha College Post office, Ajnala Post office ,Dera Baba Jaimal Singh  Post office,Majitha Post office, Rayya Post Office, Jandiala Guru Post Office, GNDU Post Office and Khalsa College Post Office etc.

The consumer simply has to approach their nearest post office with a valid identity proof to complete the purchase. In addition to this. UJALA scheme is innovatively designed to lower the count of megawatts consumed in the country through widespread adoption of energy efficient appliances. Till date, over 18 lakh LED bulbs, more than 1 lakh LED tube lights and over 30,000 energy efficient fans have been distributed in Punjab and Chandigarh.  It is estimated that this is leading to daily energy savings of more than 6,66,464 kWh and daily monetary savings of over Rs. 26 lakhs.

Under, EESL’s UJALA programme, domestic grid connected users are getting LED bulbs, LED tube lights and energy efficient BEE 5 star rated fans through designated kiosks spread across the region of Punjab and Chandigarh. The price of one LED bulb is Rs. 70, the ceiling fans costs Rs. 1,110 and energy efficient LED tube light costs Rs. 220 with the warranty of appliances of 3 years. The real-time count of distributed appliances and addresses of distribution kiosks is easily accessible on www.ujala.gov.in. As the “Post offices have been extremely vital to the daily lives and the benefit of its wider reach which is now being reaped through selling of UJALA appliances at their premises. Customer can either buy or get their faulty appliances replaced at these centers. This addition will be tremendously convenient for consumers in far-flung locations.
