Amritsar/ Ramdas Sept. 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Member Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla after inspecting the banks of river Ravi briefed the media after returning from Basantar Post of BSF. Aujla informed that the residents of village Ghonewala, Ajnala said that Balwinder Singh son of Jagir Singh is feared to have been swept away by flooded river Ravi to Pakistan, upon which MEA, BSF were contacted. This morning BSF received report from Sutluj Rangers that they have recovered a body resembling Balwinder Singh for which close relative of the missing have to identify the body at Basantar Post near Ramdas. Aujla said that he along with Balwinder Singh’s son went for identification process and after the identification of the body Sutluj Rangers called a flag meeting. Pakistan officials decided to handover the body tomorrow via Attari/ Wagha border post after completing required formalities.
Regarding the water level at river Ravi and his overnight experience at the affected area,Aujla said that the water level has dipped since morning and the weak banks shall be enforced very soon. He said that he and the residents of Chadpur village spent entire night on the banks of Ravi and kept a close watch on the weak supports of the dhussi. He said that being present on the banks of the river he boosted the confidence of the villagers and they were ready to tackle any situation if needed.
