Amritsar, Sept. 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – NSS Unit of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organised a Tree Plantation Drive as a part of Swacchta Pakhwada Scheme spotlighting the significance of preservation of environment. The Chief Guest ADCP Mr. Lakhbir Singh, Guest of Honour Ms. Harkirandeep Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, GNDU graced the occasion with their motivational presence. Under the campaign, saplings of Laburnum, Teak Defolator, Beleric and Holy Basic were planted in the lawn adjacent to Commerce Block of the college. The saplings were donated to the college by Mr. Deepak Babbar, Executive Director, Mission Aagaaz, Amritsar. On the same day an awareness rally was taken out on the Lawrence Road to spread the message of cleanliness. The rally was flagged off by the ADCP Mr. Lakhbir Singh and Ms. Harkirandeep Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, GNDU.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the NSS Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers for taking this initiative. She said that it is an important step toward ‘Green and Clean India’. She also exhorted the volunteers to come forward for the national cause of making India pollution free. NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Surbhi Sethi and Mrs. Priya Sharma, along with her team members and volunteers, participated in the drive enthusiastically.
