Jalandhar, Nov. 5 (Pujab Post Bureau) – Lt Gen Arvind Dutta took over as the General Officer Commanding of the prestigious Vajra Corps on 05 Nov 2018. He was commissioned in the Indian Army, Dogra Regiment in Jun 1982 and is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Army War College and National Defence College. General Dutta has commanded an Infantry Battalion, a Mountain Brigade and a Counter Insurgency Force in J&K. The General Officer has served in diverse terrain, including Siachen Glacier and has held prestigious staff appointments at Indian Military Training Team, Bhutan and the Military Operations and Military Intelligence Directorates at the Army Headquarters.
The General officer has also been an instructor at National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. The officer, during the span of 35 yrs of illustrious service in uniform, in addition to COAS, VCOAS, and GOC-in-C Commendations has been decorated with prestigious awards of AVSM & VSM. The General officer has also been awarded M.Sc in Defence Studies from Madras University and also M.Phil from both Indore and Madras Universities.
Lt. Gen. Arvind Dutta was the Director General of Military Intelligence at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army) prior to assuming command of Vajra Corps.
