Amritsar, March 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Chemistry and
Physics of DAV College Amritsar celebrated National Science Day sponsored by Punjab State Council of Science and Technology. More than 300 students of Undergraduate and Post Graduate classes of Science stream participated in the event. The event was intended to Science Day is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of science and its application in daily life of people.
Dr. Renu Bhardwaj, Professor Department of Botanical and environmental sciences, GNDU was a key note speaker who delivered a lecture on the theme “Science for the people and people for science”. While addressing the participants, she stressed on the need of Science that today science has reached a better level by which every people are used to get many types of Facilities and Services with the help of development in the Science and technology.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of faculty of Science Departments and motivated the students and emphasized upon the importance of science in daily life. He opined that there is urgent need for passionate yearning for quality lectures by experts so that they can easily cater the expectations of inquisitive learners. He also added that National Science Day is used to make the people develop every activity with great dedication and idea to perform the activity well for the better future of the people.
Various competitions like Poster Making, Model Making, scientific Rangoli Making and quiz were also conducted during the event for the students so that they can find out their hidden talents. During the valedictory session, Certificates and trophies were also awarded to winners of various events and few words of motivation were added by Principal Dr. Rajesh kumar so that they can learn new skills and keep their passion alive and can further excel in the field.
The heads of all the science departments Dr. Daisy Sharma, Dr. Rajni Khanna, Dr. Anita Mahajan, Dr. Sameer Kalia, Dr. Vikas Gupta and faculty from all science departments were also present during the event.
