Amritsar, Sept. 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Sh. Anil Joshi, Cabinet Minister Govt. of Punjab, Deptt. of Research & Medical Education & Local Bodies along with Dr. K.K. Talwar, Advisor to the Govt. of Punjab, Health & Medical Education , Sh. Hussan Lal, Secretary, Deptt. of Research & Medical Education, Punjab, Chandigarh and Dr. Tejbir Singh, Director Research & Medical Education, Punjab, Chandigarh visited in Govt. Medical College, Amritsar on 08-09-2014 to discuss the problems and to take remedial measures for the up-gradation of Govt. Medical College.
First of all they had a meeting with all the Head of Departments and senior members of College Advisory Committee which included Dr. (Mrs.) Sudesh Khanna, Dr. Kirpal Kaur, Dr. S.K. Khetarpal, Dr. B.L. Goel, Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, Dr. Hardas Singh, Dr. Daljit Singh, Dr. Sudesh Sharma and Dr. (Mrs.) S.K. Kahlon. Later on at 03.00 PM they had a meeting with interns, P.G. students and Senior Residents and also a meeting with all the faculty members of the college at 04.00 PM in which the problems faced by them were discussed. The Hon’ble Minister Sh. Anil Joshi observed that there is a need for major repair in the hostels and GND Hospital, Amritsar as well as in the library and auditorium of the college. The problems regarding sewerage and water supply were also discussed. The Hon’ble Minister Sh. Anil Joshi granted two tube-wells and two water tanks in Govt. Medical College for which a proposal will be prepared by the Principal and sent to the Deptt. of Local Bodies. In the meeting Dr. Santokh Singh, Principal, Govt. Medical College, Amritsar presented a master plan as directed by Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab and which will be presented to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for finalizing the master plan and to implement in phased manner. The Hon’ble Minister also said that various steps will be taken to improve the patients care in the GND Hospital, Amritsar. Sh. Hussan Lal, Secretary, Deptt. of Research & Medical Education, Punjab, Chandigarh advised the all the faculty members present in the meeting to prescribe the maximum medicines available in the drug store of the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar.
