Amritsar, Sept. 10 (Punjab Post Bureau)- BBK DAV College for Woemen, Amritsar organized a workshop for the students of the Department of Multimedia, Department of Punjabi and Department of Hindi in collaboration with the college Youth Welfare Department. The students were shown a short film ‘Kambdi Deori’ based on a true story by Punjabi writer Jaswant Singh Kanwal. The team of this non-commercial film interacted with the students and answered their queries regarding the various aspects from their course syllabus. Various tips were given to the students on how to handle the camera and focus on objects in the making of films. The short film was a great learning experience for the students as it touched a very sensitive issue of society. Producers Navtej Sandhu encouraged students to focus on non-commercial parallel cinema and should avoid promoting masala cinema.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra also motivated students to focus on healthy and clean film production, which should raise the prevalent social issues. She also mentioned that promotion of commercial and masala films should be avoided in educational institutions. Other who interacted with students in this educative feast included Sardar Sohi, Jaspinder Cheema, Dilraj, Mohit Bhaskar, Parminder Singh, & Jaswant Jass. Dr. Komal Sekhon, Dean Youth Welfare thanked the entire team for enlightening students of their right to raise voice against the social abuses they face. Dr. Shelly Jaggi, extended appreciation to the visiting team for their commendable job.
