Vigilance nabs Sales Tax Inspector for taking bribe Rs. 25000/-

Chandigarh, June 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – State Vigilance Bureau nabbed Sales Tax Inspector posted at Sales & BribeTaxation office Kotkapura in Faridkot district red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 25,000.

               Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Sales Inspector Jaspal Handa was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 25,000 from complainant Ankur Garg of Dhillon colony Faridkot.

               The complainant a scrap dealer has approached the VB and said the above said sales inspector has been threatening and demanding bribe of Rs.50,000 from him to exempt his firm from tax penalty and the deal was struck at Rs. 25,000/-.

After verifying his information, the VB team laid a trap and the accused sales inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.  

                He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
