Realease Book “Contributions of Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha to Hindustani Music

Patiala,  Aug. 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Punjabi University, Patiala Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr.) B.S Ghuman released book “Contributions of Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha to Hindustani Music ” written by Dr. Ravinder Kaur Ravi, an assistant professor at the Music Department of the varsity. The book is based on Indian Music in the writings of Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha and published in English language by Kanishka publishers Delhi. Dr. Ravinder Kaur Ravi had earlier written four books-“Bikhre Moti”, “Itihaas Khandaan Raees Bagrian”, “Sangeetacharya Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha”and Gitanjali Hari Vrijesh.

            Major AP Singh, great grandson of Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha, Dr. Yashpal Sharma Dean Faculty of Arts and Culture, Col. M.S Barnala, Assistant Professor (Dr.) Jyoti Sharma, Assistant Professor Vaneeta & Dr. Jagmail Bhathuan was also present on the occasion.
              Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha was an intellectual of the 19th century whose writings and action left a deep impect on the Punjabi world.He wrote the first definitive encyclopeadia in Punjabi Gurshabad Ratnakar Mahankosh.
