Medical Examination not conducted of Rape Victim – Punjab Women Commission seeks report from SSP

Chandigarh, August 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Punjab State Women Commission taken suo moto notice of the news reports in which serious aspirations were casted on the role of District Police and District Health Authorities for not conducting the medical examination of the rape victims even after four days of the incident. The Commission has sought detailed report from the SSP, Amritsar Rural and Civil Surgeon Amritsar, by August 26,2019 .

Disclosing this in a press communiqué Mrs. Manisha Gulati, Chairperson of the Women Commission said that the news reports alleged that the Police instead of doing its duty was exerting pressure on the victim for compromise with the opposite party. She said that Civil Surgeon, Amritsar was also directed to explain that why the victim has sent to Ajnala to procure the medical kit for medical examination which is 20 km away from Amritsar. Likewise the report was sought from SSP Amritsar Rural by August 26, 2019.
