Vigilance nabs head constable taking bribe of Rs. 10000

Chandigarh September 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed constable Sarbjeet Singh red Vigilancehanded while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000. Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said constable Sarbjeet Singh posted at police post Humbran Ludhiana district was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Ajmer Singh of Sarup Nagar Salem Tabri Ludhiana. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused police official was demanding Rs 50000 for not registering theft case against him and the deal was struck at Rs.30000. He further informed that complainant had already paid Rs. 5000 as a first installment to him. After verifying his information the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused constable was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs.10000 as second installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

                 He informed that a case under different sections of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station Ludhiana and further investigation was under progress.
