All Set for Mega International Kirtan Darbar at Khalsa College on Nov 2

 Arrangements Underway for the 10,000 Gathering at Historic Campus

 Amritsar, Nov 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  All is set for the international Mega `Kirtan Darbar’, being PUNJ0111201914organized by Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) at historic Khalsa College on November 2. The campus is being decked up beautifully to host around 10,000 gathering of devotees who will witness the recitals of Gurbani (singing of hymns) by world-acclaimed Kirtani Jathas(hymn singers), arriving from across the world.

            The religious program is dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The event will witness participation of religious leaders of the community, leaders from across the political spectrum, heads of various institutions, educationists, intellectuals, management members, staff and students of all the Khalsa institutions under KCGC apart from general public.

            “We are expecting the huge sea of devotees and eminent personalities, Thus the arrangements are being made accordingly”, said KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. The program, he said was part of the Council’s year-long events organized to commemorate the centenary celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Council has already announced to open two colleges, one each in Amritsar and Jalandhar and another school in Jalandhar to mark the sacred occasion, he said.

                The decision to hold the mega event was approved recently by the general house of the Council, headed by President Satyajit Singh Majithia. The `Langar’ (free kitchen) will be organized and students’ Jatha of 100 members would recite Gurbani in unison to mark the beginning of the program, followed by recitals by Bhai Gurdev Singh from Australia, Bhai Lal Ji (descendant of Bhai Mardana) from Lahore (Pakistan), Bhai Madan Gopal Singh from Delhi, Bibi Ashupreet Kaur from Jalandhar, Bhai Harjot Singh Jakhmi from Jalandhar and Bhai Gagandeep Singh from Sri Ganganagar.

                The Jathedars of Sikh Takhts, top Ministers from Union Government, Governor, Punjab, top political leadership from various political parties, Chiefs of various Sikh bodies including SGPC, Sikh Societies will be participating in the Kirtan Darbar. The top Sikh leaders and those who have contributed to the deliverance of Guru Nanak’s philosophy would be honoured at the occasion.

 The sprawling historic building of the College is being lighted up and the huge stage is being set up, said Principal Dr. Mehal Singh. He said all the arrangements for the parking of large number of vehicles, pandals for sangat, water supply, and welcoming of the guests have been made and it would be a rare event in the history of the college. “Guru’s philosophy and teachings needed to be spread across the mankind for the universal brotherhood and human values”, said he.
