Seminar on Women Health and Hygiene Issues organized at DAV College

Amritsar, Nov 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Women empowerment cell, DAV College Amritsar organized a seminar on Women Health and Hygiene Issues. This event was organized under able guidance of Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College and Dr. Parveen Thakur, Conveynor, Women Cell. Mrs Monika Member Mahila Jagriti Abhiyan was the resource person during the event.

            Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar welcomed the guests Mrs Monika and Arun Kumar. While speaking on the occasion, he called upon the girl students to discard taboo related to menstruation and understand the importance of healthy life. Dr. Parveen Thakur, Convenor, women empowerment cell informed the students regarding the importance of menstrual health and hygiene.

            While speaking on the occasion Mrs. Monika demonstrated the difference in composition of plastic and cotton based pads and told the students to shun the use of plastic pads altogether as it is the major cause of cervical cancer. She guided the students to use eco-friendly, biodegradable cotton pads that contain active oxygen negative ions which kill many types of bacteria.

            The programme was marked by the presence of Prof. Meenu Aggarwal, Prof. Dr. Anita Mahajan, members of women cell Prof. Dr. Kiran Khanna, Prof. Renu Sharma, Prof. Loveleen Kaur, Prof. Nihita Sharma, Prof. Dr Jagdish Kaur, Prof. Sanjay Mahajan and other faculty members of the college.
