3rd day of 3rd Asian Conference on Chemosensors and imaging probes at GNDU

Amritsar, Nov 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Scientists discussed various new inventions in the field of PUNJ0911201920Chemosensors and imaging probes during Asian Conference on Chemosensors and imaging probes (AsianChIP – 2019) which is being organized by Department of Chemistry of the Guru Nanak Dev University. They were of the view that while discovering new inventions, the side effects of the inventions should also be considers alongwith the good ones. All scientists also happy with the hospitality of the University and visit to Sri Harmander Sahib  and other places.

Different lectures scientists from different countries working at the same platform emphasize that two photon microscopies combined with laser scanning technology provides a powerful tool for fluorescence imaging of organ tissues at the deeper depth. Near-infra red excitation also causes minimal photodamage and photobleaching. These two photon-based fluorophores can be used for diagnosis of diseases such as Alzheimer disease and cancer.

Prof. Yoon from Korea discussed the possibility of improving photodynamic therapy for treatment of cancer. They showed that assembly of phthalocyanine photosensitizer with anti-cancer drug mitoxantrone form uniform nanostructures which can promote highly efficient ROS (reactive oxygen species) generation to kill the tumour cells. He also discussed the application of N-heterocyclic carbene boranes for the detection of HOCl in the living system. Cellular organelles such as mitochondria, lysosome, endoplasmic reticulum plays important roles in many physiological activities such as cell migration, cell signalling and cholesterol homeostasis. Experts from Indian institutes and foreign institutes showed that Imine, azine and their complexes with Al3+ complexes or heterocyclic system, can be used as tracker for bioimaging of mitochondria, lysosome, endoplasmic reticulum. These can also be used as potential candidate for novel fluorescent probe for live cell imaging to visualize variety of cellular processes.Dr.Hong discussed detection of thiols (cysteine, H2S and other biological and environmental toxic analyte such as H2O2, Hg2+) using electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) which could be potentially useful for routine, cost-effective and precautionary diagnosis of various cardio vesicular diseases.
