Amritsar, January 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Lala Lajpat Rai, an eminent personality of Indian freedom struggle was
remembered with reverence by the students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road. He was born on 28th January, 1865 in the District of Punjab. Lala Lajpat Rai joined Arya Samaj and besides practicing law, he worked for collecting funds for Dayanand College and participated in various movements for the freedom of India. He also contributed to the Bal – Pal – Lal trio.
The students informed about his inspiring life and recited poems and sang patriotic songs to commemorate his jayanti. Lala Lajpat Rai polularly known as Punjab Kesari, was the one with other freedom fighters who opposed the Simon Commission, the Commission that was formed for India but did not have a single Indian representative. During this protest, the British ordered for lathi charge and Lala ji was seriously injured. Due to his injuries he passed away on November 17, 1928. The students saluted this great patiot and the nationalist spirit in him. They pledged to take inspiration from his life and join hands to spread universal brotherhood.
Regional Officer Punjab Zone –A Dr. (Mrs. ) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College Amritsar in their message to the students asked them to work hard and work to make the country proud by adopting Aryan values.
Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school while addressing the students asked the students to live a rightful life. She asked them to imbibe the tenets of Arya Samaj as Lala Ji was also a true follower of Arya Samaj and spread brotherhood and unity in the country.
