Colourful Annual Sports Meet at Khalsa College of Education

Amritsar, February 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A colourful Sports Meet witnessed students from various departments competing for various sports events, was held at Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue, here today. The events including races, wresting, Judo-karate, Kho-Kho and other athletics competitions delighted one and all with the spirit of sportsmanship and unity at large, highlighting the discipline and partnerships.

            Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, honorary secretary Khalsa College Governing Council  said in his inaugural speech that the sports must be made integral part of the school and college education. He said he was happy to know that the would-be teachers as the students are from master and bachelor of education, were taking keen interests in the sports in the college.

            Arun Kumar from M.Ed. and Navneet Kaur of B.Ed.-M.Ed. were declared best athletes. College Principal Dr. Surinderpal Kaur Dhillon, earlier extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and other guests.

            Chhina unfurled the college Flag which was followed by an impressive march past by the students of the different Houses. The chief-guest and the Principal took the salute and declared the Sports Meet open. Then the Oath taking ceremony was held which was led by Head boy Jaswant Singh. During the closing ceremony, Dr. JS Dhillon, former VC, Guru Kashi University and honorary secretary, Education Committee, Chief Khalsa Diwan honored the winners with medals and trophies.

            They stressed the importance of sports in the holistic development of the students and appreciated Principal, college faculty and students for making the event successful. KCGC vice president Swinder Singh Kathunangal, SS Mannan, Rajbir Singh, Sukhdev Singh Abdal and Principals GS Sethi, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, vice Principla Dr. Surinder Kaur, Ajaypal Singh Dhillon and others were present.
