Delay of grant puts Colleges under Crises – Dr. Sekhon

Amritsar, July 24 (Punjab post Bureau) – As per the call given by Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union a peaceful dharna as per SOP of state Government was being held at DAV College  Amritsar against the indifferent attitude of Secretary Higher (Rahul Bhandari)  regarding the non-release of grant  of aided colleges for the month of April, May 2020. Dr. Gurdas Singh Sekhon President Local unit of the DAV College Amritsar said that the secretary is not serious to the demand of Aided college Teachers. He said that in the critical time of Covid-19, the college teachers are performing their duties in the colleges for new admission and due to indifferent attitude of Secretary higher education; the colleges in Punjab are not able to pay their salaries for the last few months.     

              While addressing to Dharna Dr. BB Yadav District President informed that all the colleges i.e DAV College, BBK DAV College, Khalsa College, Khalsa College for Women, DAV College of Education, Hindu College and SN College in Amritsar District protested against the attitude of Secretary Higher education He further said that if the grant will not be released within few days then PCCTU will intensify the struggle in the coming days.

                  The whole staff of DAV College Amritsar attended the Dharna in which Prof. G. S Sidhu Vice president, Prof. Munish Gupta Unit Secretary, Prof. Rajesh Mittu Finance Secretary, Dr. Daizy Sharma, Dr. Vikram Chaudhary, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Prof. Nividitta Sharma, Prof. Sanjeev Dutta Dr. Ritu Arora and Dr. Kiran Khanna were presnt.
