Additional restrictions imposed within Municipal limits in the district

None essential activities to remain prohibited between 9 pm to 5 am

Kapurthala, August 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Deputy commissioner cum District magistrate Deepti Uppal has ordered the additional restrictions within the municipal limits of all the cities (municipal councils, corporations and Nagar panchayats) with the effect from August 18, 2020 till further orders on account of a sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in urban areas.

               Under the new restrictions movement of individuals for all the non-essential activities will remain prohibited between 9 pm to 5 am within the municipal limits of municipal corporations, municipal councils and Nagar panchayat of district Kapurthala.

               However essential activities including operation of multiple shifts, movement of person and goods on national and state highways, unloading of cargo and travel of person to their destination after disembarking from buses, trains and aeroplanes will be permitted. Similarly all industries running into two- three shifts will also remain open.

             She further said that new restrictions on timings of restaurants,hotels and other hospitality units has been announced. These units will allow to work till 8:30 pm along with restaurants and hotels situated within the shopping malls.

            Besides that liquor vends will remain open till 8:30 pm. On the other hand, shops and shopping malls would remain open till 8 pm. Deputy commissioner has appealed the people to avoid unnecessary travel on weekdays in the big towns of Ludhiana, Patiala and Jalandhar.

            She also made it clear those shops (other than those dealing in essential commodities) shopping malls throughout te district to remain closed on Sunday as per the guidelines issued on July 31.

                She said that any violation of these guidelines and the lockdown measures would invite strict action by the administration authorities.
