Guru Nanak Dev University condole the sad and sudden demise of Dr. Darya

Amritsar, September 4 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Guru Nanak Dev University condole the sad and sudden demise of Dr. Darya, Head, School of Punjabi Studies of the University.

            Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu in his condolence message expressed his deep and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He said that the contribution of Dr. Darya was commendable in the development of the University especially in the field of folklore.

            Eminent scholar Dr. Darya was born on August 01, 1971. His father Mr. Shingara Ajari, a committed researcher of Punjabi folklore. He did Ph.D. from Guru Nanak Dev University and entered the field of teaching after completing his degree. His book ‘Culture of Sansi Tribe’ was awarded by Punjab Language Department Award. He authored a dozen books and a large number of research papers on Punjabi literature and folklore. He has also published a collection of poems, “Jungle de Naal Naal”. After teaching at D.A.V. College Amritsar and B.U.C Batala College, he was appointed as a Lecturer at the School of Punjabi Studies of the University. After being promoted as Associate Professor, he took over as the Head of the Department on January 1, 2020.

            All the teaching / non-teaching staff and students of the University especially  School of Punjabi Studies also expressed their grievance.
