Amritsar, September 10 (Punjab Post Bureau) – UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev 
University started with its first online Faculty Induction Programme for newly recruited faculty under the stewardship of its Chief Patron Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu. This will be 28 days programme as per Gurudakshta guidelines given by the UGC.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Prof. Incharge (Examinations), presided over the inaugural session. Prof. Manoj said that teaching is a noble profession and laid emphasis on the importance of open mindedness in teachers offering examples from lives of scientists.
Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig Director HRDC, GNDU welcomed all the participants and ensured full support during these days online short term courseand Dr. Rajbir Bhatti Deputy-Director HRDC welcomed the Chief Guest, and briefed about the participants who are from seven different states including Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal.Dr. PavleenSoni, course co-coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
Under the guidance of Prof. Sandhu, HRDC is endeavoring to work towards excellence and utilizing the pandemic situation to invite eminent educationists. The first academic session was marked by a lecture from Padma Shri awardee Prof. G D Yadav from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. Prof. Yadav is a celebrated scientist and a highly reputed academician. He talked about “Creating World Class Institutions of Higher Education in Indian Context: Autonomy, Research, Innovation and Inspiring Leadership”. Prof. Yadav gave useful tips and strategies to achieve distinction as teachers and researchers, laying emphasis on the need to strengthen the industry-academia linkage. He also said that young teachers should work in collaboration with the experienced colleagues. Prof. Sandhu expressed satisfaction and encouraged the faculty to work hard to uplift the students so to make them employable.
