Webinar `Veterinarian Response to Covid’ Organized at KCVAS

Amritsar, April 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A high level webinar on `Veterinarian Response to Covid-19’ was organized at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) here seeking answers of using expertise of Veterinary doctors against the epidemic. The webinar was dedicated to World Veterinary Day (WVD) which is a global celebration of Veterinarians and their roles in health and welfare of animals.

            KCVAS Principal Dr. PK Kapoor, under whose patronship the event was organized, said the objectives of World Veterinary Association (WVA), the force behind WVD, is to provide global leadership for the veterinary profession and promote animal health and welfare and public health through advocacy, awareness program and partnership.

            Managing Director KCVAS, Dr. SK Nagpal and Director VCC Dr. SS Sidhu also expressed their views on the vital topics, highlighting the significant roles of veterinarians as the various medicines for Covid treatment are first tested on animals. “Thus the role of Veterinarian is so significant”, said Dr. Kapoor.

            An Online Quiz and Essay Writing competition on the topic “Career Opportunity and Veterinarian reflections during COVID19” was also organized and in total 232 registered participants competed in the online quiz coordinated by Dr. Manbir Singh. The top five winners chosen were Karman Kaur, Rahul Chadha, Srikanth Vallabhani, Neeru and Priya Somani (Fifth).

            Capt.(Dr.) G. Dhanan Jaya Rao, Professor and Head, Dept. of Vety. Surgery and Radiology shared detailed information on Career opportunities and Veterinarian reflections. The Writing Competition was coordinated and judged by Dr. C. Varshneya, Professor and Head, Dept of Vety. Pharmacology and Toxicology, Dr. Nischal Dutta, Associate Professor, Dept. of Vety. Pathology and Dr. Rabjot Kaur, Associate Professor, Dept. of Vety. Parasitology. The winners were Shubham Arora, First, Harsh Gupta, Second and Tushar Arora third.

                        The Organizing committee of the event comprises members of Dr. SB Bakshi, Dr. R Ralte, Dr. Manbir Singh, and Dr. Abrar Ul Haq Wani, Dr. Vipan Kumar, Dr. Rajanbir Singh Randhawa. Dr. Bakshi gave a vote of thanks.
