Central and State Govts failed in addressing colossal health issue – SGPC

Bholath, May 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Central and State Congress Governments have failed to provide adequate health infrastructure for the corona patients in Punjab. Due to misuse and mismanagement of resources the state is reeling under the unfortunate 2.5 per cent death rate as compared to 1 per cent at national level.

Taking initiative to start a Covid Care Centre for Oxygen langar for the Covid-19 affected patients in Bholath, Bibi Jagir Kaur regretted that, “In a pandemic situation the governments have not not risen up to address the crisis”. The SGPC, a pioneer institution of the Sikhs has always led to rescue the humanity in difficult times and purchased vaccination for its free camps to vaccinate the public in the recent past.

She said that only four ventilators were allocated to the district Kapurthala. “Unfortunately only one is in working condition as the three others are of poor quality procured by the Centre from PM Cares Fund”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

“The entire system is in shambles and we appeal to all officers, leaders and political parties to come forward to save lives and work in tandem to give relief”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

SGPC president also reiterated that her whole focus will be to use SGPC resources and infrastructure for the humanity in this situation.
