Bibi Jagir Kaur expresses grief over burning of three birs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib

Amritsar, May 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Bibi Jagir Kaur expressed grief over the burning of three birs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Thuha village near Rajpura and appealed to the sangat that regular inspection of electricity wires and equipment so that such incidents do not happen again.

                She said that it was surprising that despite repeated appeals, fire incidents are taking place in Gurdwaras. She said that it is the first responsibility of the Gurdwara Committees to be serious in preventing such accidents.The sangat should also alert the Gurdwara Committees from time to time.

                 Bibi Jagir Kaur said that it is a matter of great concern that three sacred birs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were lost in the fire incident at Thuha village near Rajpura.

                Bibi Jagir Kaur said that a similar incident was reported of burning of sacred bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Talwandi Sulem village in Shahkot area. The incident also happened due to electricity short circuit in a fan. She said that Gurdwara Committees should ensure the presence of a Sewadar at Gurdwaras at all times and it should be mandatory to switch-off the main power supply at night.
