Amritsar, May 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, a book namely ‘Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji De Samkali Sikh’ (Contemporary Sikhs of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur) published by Sikh Itihas Research Board of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) was inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur here today. The book has been authored by Dr Rajwinder Singh Joga, a research scholar.
While appreciating the work done by Dr. Rajwinder Singh, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “More books are being published dedicated to the 400th Parkash Purb of the ninth Guru. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life for the sake of humanity. SGPC is working exclusively to highlight the life history and philosophy of the ninth Guru. This book has been published under the same effort. This book gives details of about 300 Sikhs who came to the hazuri (presence) of the ninth Guru.”
SGPC president said, “The Sikh Sangat normally gets information about the prominent Sikhs of the Guru, but there are also names of many Sikhs about whom readers get very little information. This book will give information about all the Sikhs who were contemporary to the Guru Sahib.”
The author of the book, Dr. Rajwinder Singh said, “Many Sikhs who came to the protection of the Guru, or wherever he traveled, many devotees and well-wishers, used to come to see the Guru. All those Sikhs are mentioned in the contemporary sources of the Sikh history and this book has been authored on the basis of all those historical sources.”
