PPN05111407

New Delhi, Nov. 5 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Come November 7th, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. C.V. Raman.  This step, a part of yet another Expression Series is to develop and encourage scientific temper amongst the young future of the country. The topic focuses on the ‘Young Scientific Minds of India’ and reflects CBSE’s devotion towards providing a balanced platform to children for their growth and well being.

CBSE feels that children and the youth must be made aware of the selfless and valiant services of the women and men who have served the nation. The present day India has been possible only because several women and men of yester years worked incessantly towards nation-building. And hence, the Board initiated the Expression Series.  Committed to the holistic development of the students, CBSE has planned to promote the day, encouraging scientific spirit among the students by writing articles, making projects and paintings on the topics related to science.  CBSE considers experimentation and research of scientists to be the main reason for India’s growth in various sectors. To honour the great scientist and the Noble Prize Winner, the Board dedicates the day to celebrate the importance of science all over India through students’ participation in the ‘Young Scientific Minds of India’ contest.

“Science is what makes the universe. It is important to have a scientific temper because it is science that provides one with logic, reasoning and an analytical mind. All three are very important for a child since these form the support system for learning. Education would be incomplete without at least a basic amount of scientific understanding,” said Shri Vineet Joshi, Chairman, CBSE a science student himself.  Participants can submit their entries on November 7, 2014 from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm using either the online mode (links to be made available same day on cbseacademic.in) or through mobile phones in 22 scheduled languages including English. The contest is divided into three categories – Class I to V, Class VI to VIII and Class IX to XII respectively. Each participant will be given an online Certificate of Participation whereas 10 best entries from each category will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 2500 along with a Certificate of Merit. Also, the winning entries will be compiled into an e-book.
