BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar Light Weightlifting & Power Lifting Trophies at Inter College Championship.

Amritsar, Nov 10 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women, has won both Power Lifting and Weight Lifting Inter College Championship trophies held at DAV Complex.

 In Power Liftting Championship, college defeated HMV College Jalandhaar, BD Arya Girls College Jalandhar andGNDU Campus. Ms. Navjot, Ms. Poonam, Ms. Manpreet, Ms. Zeba and Ms. Pooja of the college won Gold Medals in 47kg, 57kg, 63kg, 84kg and +84 kg weight categories respectively.

 In Weight Lifting Championship, college defeated HMV College Jalandhar, R.G. College Phagwara, SD College Dinanagar and BD Arya College Jalandhar. Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Ms. Navjot, Ms. Manpreet and Ms. Manpreet Kaur, of the college won Gold Medals in 58kg, 48kg, 63kg and +75 kg weight categories respectively. Eight players of the college Poonam, Manpreet, Zeba, Pooja, Manpreet, Navjot, Karamjeet and Manpreet have been selected for All India Intervarsity Power Lifting & Weight Lifting Championship going to be held at PTU in Dec, 2014.

Power Lifter Ms. Poonam of the college created a record in 165 kg squat and also won silver medal in Senior National held at Mangalore. Also Ms. Pooja won silver and Ms. Zeba won bronze medal in senior national championship.

 Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra congratulated the winners for bringing awards to the college and appreciated the efforts of the staff, Ms. Sweety Bala, Head Sports Department; Ms. Savita Kuamri, Ms. Rupinder, & Coach Mr. Daljinder & Ms. Baljit appreciated the achievements of winners and motivated them to perform the best in the upcoming competition.
